Pakistan is getting ready to launch its first high-speed bullet train between Lahore and Rawalpindi.
The announcement was made during a meeting led by Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb and Federal Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi.
A special team has been formed to work on the project. This team includes Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar, the Chairman of Pakistan Railways, and other important officials. They will study how the project can be done and create a timeline for it.
Marriyum Aurangzeb said the team will give its suggestions to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz next week. She added that the bullet train project is another step in fulfilling promises made to the public. The goal is to give people fast, affordable, and comfortable travel between cities.
Also in the Works: Air Punjab
Just a day earlier, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz reviewed the progress of two major projects — the Lahore-Rawalpindi bullet train and Pakistan’s first provincial airline, Air Punjab.
She officially approved Air Punjab, which will begin with domestic flights inside Pakistan. Four Airbus planes will be leased soon to start operations. If the airline does well in its first year, it plans to expand to international routes, aiming to offer top service and become a successful airline.
The bullet train is expected to cut the travel time between Lahore and Rawalpindi to about two and a half hours.
