The recent successful 1,000 km journey of a 40-ton Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 e-truck on a single charge is a significant milestone in the development of electric long-haul trucking.
The truck completed the journey from Stuttgart, Germany to Bolzano, Italy, and back, with a single charging break in between. The journey took around 14 hours, and the truck averaged a speed of 70 km/h.

The eActros 600 is a fully electric truck with a range of up to 400 km on a single charge. It is power by three lithium-ion battery packs with a total capacity of 420 kWh. The truck can aslo be charge using a variety of methods, including fast charging stations and traditional power outlets.
Electric trucks can now compete with diesel trucks on long-haul routes, as shown by the eActros 600’s 1,000 km journey. This discovery can cut trucking emissions, a big cause of climate change, making it a breakthrough.
The eActros 600 is still in the prototype stage, but Mercedes-Benz plans to start production of the truck in 2024. The company is making more electric trucks, like the 60-ton eActros LongHaul that can go 500 km.
Electric truck production is increasing, expect more on roads as development speeds up in the future. This is a positive development for the environment, as electric trucks can help to reduce emissions and improve air quality.
