Top-Rated eCommerce Sites in the U.S.
In the first quarter of 2025, online shopping in the U.S. reached a huge $300.2 billion—making up 16.2% of all retail sales. Not surprisingly, Amazon and Walmart are leading the way, not just in sales but also in website traffic and app usage.
Amazon continues to be the top player, with an average of 390 million people visiting its website every month (Oct–Dec 2024). Walmart comes in second with 166 million visitors, followed by eBay (106M), Target (96M), and Etsy (86M). These platforms attract millions thanks to their unique features and large product selections.
When it comes to mobile apps, Amazon dominates again with 255 million monthly users. However, Temu—a newer shopping app—is gaining ground with 69 million users. It was even the most downloaded app in the U.S. in 2024.
Despite Temu’s fast rise, it’s now facing challenges. After new U.S. tariffs were introduced in April, its daily users dropped by 48% between March and May.
