Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, also known as CZ, has been appointed as a strategic adviser to the Pakistan Crypto Council (PCC). The announcement took place during a meeting chaired by Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, with key figures from Pakistan’s government, including officials from the SECP, SBP, and IT sectors. Zhao’s appointment aims to guide the development of Pakistan’s crypto ecosystem, focusing on regulation, infrastructure, and education.
During his visit, Zhao met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister Senator Ishaq Dar. Finance Minister Aurangzeb emphasized that with CZ’s expertise, Pakistan is set to become a leader in Web3, digital finance, and blockchain technology. Bilal Bin Saqib, CEO of the PCC, also expressed confidence that Zhao’s experience will help Pakistan unlock its potential in the digital finance sector.
Zhao, a key figure in the global crypto landscape, will work closely with both the Pakistani government and the private sector to create a compliant and inclusive crypto ecosystem. He highlighted Pakistan’s youthful population and its vast potential for growth in digital finance. The country, with over 20 million active crypto users, is ranked third globally in crypto adoption, making it a key player in the evolving blockchain space.
The Pakistan Crypto Council, established last month, is set to lead the country’s digital transformation. With annual remittances of $35 billion, Pakistan is well-positioned to benefit from cryptocurrency adoption, further enhancing its economic prospects.
