Pakistan’s mobile manufacturing industry has hit a significant milestone, producing over 14 million mobile phones in the first half of 2025, according to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). This achievement highlights the rapid growth of local assembly and the government’s push to reduce reliance on imported smartphones.

Local Mobile Manufacturing Breaks Records

Pakistan’s mobile manufacturing industry has achieved a remarkable milestone by producing over 14 million mobile phones in the first half of 2025, according to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). This growth reflects the success of local assembly initiatives and the government’s continuous support for reducing smartphone imports.

Smartphones vs. Feature Phones

Dominance of Smartphones

Out of the total production, over 10 million units were smartphones, while the remaining comprised feature phones. This shift indicates an increasing demand for affordable smart devices across the country.

Government Policies Supporting Growth

The Mobile Device Manufacturing Policy has played a critical role in boosting Pakistan mobile phone production 2025. Through tax incentives, favorable regulations, and foreign investment, global brands such as Samsung, Xiaomi, and Infinix have set up local assembly plants, significantly reducing import dependency and strengthening the economy.

Job Creation and Economic Impact

This boom in local production is creating thousands of new jobs while helping Pakistan save millions in foreign exchange reserves.

Future Outlook for Mobile Manufacturing

Analysts predict that if the current growth rate continues, Pakistan’s mobile production could exceed 30 million units by the end of 2025. However, maintaining quality standards, ensuring a stable component supply, and addressing currency fluctuations remain key challenges for the industry.

Digital Pakistan Initiative

The government’s “Digital Pakistan” vision is closely tied to this progress, as locally produced smartphones will help improve internet penetration and digital inclusion nationwide.
