The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has provided an update on Starlink, the satellite internet service owned by Elon Musk’s SpaceX, as the company moves closer to launching operations in Pakistan.
During a briefing to the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on IT, PTA officials disclosed that Starlink submitted its license application on February 24, 2022, and is currently in the process of meeting regulatory requirements.
To commence operations, Starlink must complete its registration with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and fulfill the Pakistan Single Window (PSW) process. The PTA assured that Starlink has pledged to comply with all national policies and regulatory frameworks.
Meanwhile, Shanghai Space Technology is also preparing to enter the Pakistani market, signaling a major advancement in the country’s digital infrastructure.
