In a groundbreaking announcement, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, the Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, revealed that Pakistan will host its first-ever Digital Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Summit on April 29-30, 2025. This event aims to position Pakistan as a global hub for technology and digital innovation, attracting investors, ambassadors, and key international stakeholders from around the world.

The Digital FDI Initiative is a strategic move to support countries in creating policies that draw investment into the digital economy. By providing a platform for high-level discussions, policy dialogue, and networking, this summit will foster international cooperation in technology and digital investments, boosting Pakistan’s visibility in the global digital landscape.

Shaza Fatima emphasized that Pakistan’s young, skilled workforce, particularly its expanding talent in fields like cybersecurity, fintech, and emerging technologies, is a major advantage for tech investors. With over 150 million people under the age of 35, the country offers immense potential for global businesses looking to tap into an innovative, tech-savvy population.

The event, organized in partnership with the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) led by Saudi Arabia, will feature key discussions around Pakistan’s digital and IT investment potential, and showcase initiatives like the National Incubation Centers, Special Technology Zones, and the soon-to-be-completed IT Park in Islamabad, all designed to support the growth of the tech industry.

Pakistan is also addressing challenges such as the need for improved international payment systems, presenting a unique opportunity for foreign fintech firms to invest and innovate in this space.

The summit will be a pivotal moment in Pakistan’s journey to becoming a key player in the global digital economy. With an ambitious goal to train over 3 million people in digital skills over the next three years, Pakistan is preparing its youth for thriving in the digital world.

Pakistan is ready to embrace the global digital economy, and this summit marks a significant step toward attracting investment, fostering innovation, and positioning the country as a digital powerhouse.
