$600M Investment for AI Car Venture by Pak-American
Pakistani-American entrepreneur Qasar Younis has secured $600 million in new funding for his self-driving tech startup, Applied Intuition, pushing its valuation to $15 billion. Based in San Francisco, the company uses artificial intelligence (AI) to improve vehicle automation and safety. Since its founding in 2017, Applied Intuition has partnered with major automakers like Toyota and Volkswagen, helping bring smart, AI-powered technology into the automotive world.
Younis, originally from Lala Musa in Pakistan’s Gujrat District, moved to the U.S. in 1988. He credits his early life for building the determination and mindset that helped him succeed in Silicon Valley. The name “Applied Intuition” was chosen to reflect the company’s deep connection to AI (“AI” being its initials), and Younis shared that the goal is to bring this technology to all kinds of machines—from cars and drones to industrial equipment.
The recent funding round could be the last before the company goes public, depending on market conditions. Applied Intuition’s growth comes at a time when AI is playing an increasingly big role in the auto industry. At CES 2025 in Las Vegas, companies like Google and Qualcomm discussed how AI will transform driving by making it more interactive and intuitive—something Younis and his team are already helping bring to life.
